This door and price example is for a simple horizontal design aluminium roller door, with no frills.
When we refer to an insulated roller door it is the slats used which are double skinned and foam filled inside. If you want a door with a tested U-value you have to look towards higher end roller doors or sectional door options. All the roller garage doors we provide are of the highest quality and manufactured to the highest standard regardless of being basic in their colour and design.

Expect to pay between £1,400 and £1,600 inc. VAT

- A colour coated finish for inside and out
- 2 point rod locking system as standard
- All required hardware
- Handle and locking with 2 locking rod bars inside. These enter the side channels and are constructed with steel, located in the stronger extruded slat of the bottom rail.
EXTRAS: Details such as trimming around the door frame, additional weatherseals on the ground and upgrades on the guides (i.e: bullet locks) are available at a surcharge.
This price is referring to a single size between around 2 - 2.3m wide and 2 - 2.3m high, most UK single garage door opening sizes. other sizes are available up to 5m wide, but only electrically operated after about 3m wide

COLOURS AND FINISHES
On this particular roller garage door there are only a certain amount of colour finishes available to choose from but usually one suitable colour for everyone.
SECURITY
Security is basic on these doors but is still a 2 point locking system using 2 bars which throw sideways into the side guides at low level for securing when closed. It would take a lot of noise and tools to actually break through this door easily and additional locking is possible with bullet locks in the side channels.
EASE OF USE
Being a manual roller door then obviously you have to operate the door by hand and this involves simply grabbing the handle and turning the key to unlock and then lifting the door which is spring balanced and assisted. Adjusted properly it is reasonably easy to operate and usually one of the easiest door operations for a type which goes up and down.

It is perhaps quite rare to have a manual operated aluminium insulated roller door because it is in fact almost the same price as an electric version because of the price of the locking, handle, sting balancing and so on.
However some people simply don’t use their garage very often and maybe never put a vehicle in it either so a manual operation makes more sense. maybe of course you don’t have electricity in the garage either..
We are more aware than anyone of the massive presence of low priced ‘insulated’ roller garage doors in the UK market but in fact if you do enough research you will soon find out these are not in fact doors but more like window shutters and meant to be in front of doors and windows rather than trying to act as an actual garage door.
A low priced electric insulated roller door may look tempting but you are better off with one of these tried and tested manual insulated roller doors than a very cheap electric aluminium roller door which simply won’t last.
