Basic Operator for Single Doors
Prices Range:
£400 - £600
Price
Expect to pay between £400 and £600 inc. VAT installed for a good quality, European manufactured electric operator retrofitted to a RETRACTABLE operating up and over garage door in good order and balanced well with the springs.
This price range would also assume there is a suitable power supply provided internally to take the power from for the operator, within 1 metre of the motor unit itself which is normally about 11 feet (3200mm) back into the garage from the centre of the lintel.
This price would vary depending on which operator was specified and whether the door requires a good service or not. Most do require servicing and the reason for asking for an electric operator in the first place is because the door is perhaps a bit heavy, and this is usually down to the door being in a poor state of service with adjustments required on the springs and tracking in the main.

It is very important to realise that an electric operator cannot simply be fitted because the garage door is stiff or heavy. The garage door has to be balanced so the electric operator can utilise all the safety detection functions correctly and detect obstructions accurately if met. A garage door operator could be simply turned up to full power with the safety functions effectively turned off in order to drag a garage door up and down but this should never be the case, the door has to be as near ot perfect operation as possible so a good amount of potential costings may come from the servicing of the door.
