Cedar Trent

Manufacturer:
Timber Cedar
Door Type:
Sectional Doors
Material:
Timber
Prices from:

A high quality timber sectional. With timber being a natural insulator, and the ability to finish these doors in any paint or stain of your choice, this is a superior choice for your home. In choosing sectional garage doors you will benefit from the door sliding 100% vertically and not moving outwards at any time during the open or close. This means you can park the vehicle right up close to the doors on the driveway so utilise all the space you have there.

Flexible Glazed Design

The Trent is a versatile timber sectional that balances the privacy of solid boarding with the practical benefits of a glazed top section. The vertical boarding on the lower panels provides a strong, durable base that resists knocks and scuffs, while the upper windows can be customised with clear or stippled glass to suit your preference.

This model is a fantastic all-rounder, offering the visual warmth of Western Red Cedar with the functionality of a bright, airy garage interior. The high-quality track system ensures that even with the added weight of glass and solid timber, the door remains perfectly balanced and can be lifted with just one hand or a standard electric operator.

Sizes, Operation & Gear

Made to measure in a wide range of single and double sizes to suit most UK garages, including larger bespoke openings.

  • All sectional doors are constructed with solid cedar top, middle, side and bottom rails, typically finished to around 44 mm thickness for rigidity.
  • Doors over approximately 10 ft wide are reinforced with lateral timber or steel bracing to minimise deflection when the door is in the overhead position.
  • Vertical lifting sectional operation maximises drive-through width and headroom compared with traditional up-and-over doors.
  • HOME-X residential extension spring system as standard on most doors up to around 14'0" x 7'0" and 130 kg, for fast assembly and pre-tensioned springs.
  • HOME-R rear mounted torsion springs available for heavier doors up to approximately 165 kg.
  • HOME-F front mounted torsion springs offered for large or oversize doors up to around 295 kg where extra lifting capacity is required.

Timber Quality & Construction

  • Hand-built in the UK from kiln dried Western Red Cedar sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests.
  • Solid cedar stiles and rails joined using traditional mortice and tenon, glued and wedged joints for long-term structural strength.
  • Cedar’s natural oils offer inherent resistance to decay and insect attack, ideal for exposed external locations.
  • Dimensionally stable timber that lies flat and stays straight when correctly finished and maintained.
  • Natural variation in colour and grain from light amber to deep honey brown ensures every door is unique.

Glazing & Design Options

  • 4 mm toughened safety glass used in glazed sections for strength and impact resistance.
  • Stippled opaque glass available where privacy is important but natural daylight is still desired inside the garage.
  • Leaded patterns offered in plain, diamond or square designs to match property style and other cedar door ranges.
  • Clear glazing options available on request for doors such as DERWENT, WIRKSWORTH, BAMFORD, BARLOW, WARWICK, HASSOP, STIPPLED DIAMOND, STIPPLED SQUARE, YORK and TRENT where appropriate to the design.

Cedar Sectional Door Colour Options

Enhance the natural beauty of your handmade timber door with our professional factory finishing service. Using premium Remmers coatings from Germany, our multi-coat system provides a durable, satin-finish barrier against the elements, significantly extending maintenance intervals compared to site-applied stains.

Why Choose Factory Finishing?

Long-Lasting Protection: The industrial application ensures deep penetration and a consistent seal, offering up to 5 years of erosion resistance before recoating is typically required. Click to see pdf Brochure.

Weather Resistance: Protects against UV degradation, water ingress, and fungal attack from day one. Click to see pdf Brochure.

Superior Finish: A smooth, furniture-grade satin finish that highlights the timber grain (on translucent stains) or provides a flawless solid colour (on opaque finishes). Click to see pdf Brochure.

Stability: Opaque finished doors may utilise high-performance Tricoya composite panels in place of solid cedar boards to eliminate natural movement and prevent paint cracking. Click to see pdf Brochure.

Warranty & Care Instructions

Natural Timber Characteristics

Timber is an organic material that naturally acclimatises to its environment. As such, some variation in colour and grain is to be expected—this is a celebrated feature of Western Red Cedar, not a defect. Every effort is made to hand-match components during manufacture to harmonise the overall appearance.

Please be aware that timber substrates can naturally expand and contract with changes in humidity and temperature. This may result in the opening and closing of joints or minor curvature. Such movement is normal and will not affect the long-term performance or life of the door.

Finishing & Protection

Standard Basecoat : All timber doors are supplied with a dip immersion coat of Remmers Light Oak (ref: 006). This provides temporary protection for transit and installation only. If left exposed to rain or water splashes, water marks may occur. We strongly recommend applying a full specification of finishing coats immediately after installation using a Remmers Finishing coat system.

Factory Fully Finished Option: For the best long-term protection, we advise selecting the full factory finish. This multi-coat system provides up to a 5-year erosion period.

Note on Curing : If a factory-finished door is exposed to rain shortly after installation, light-coloured staining may appear. This is a normal part of the curing process and will disperse and disappear as the finish fully hardens (taking up to six months).

Colour Selection: Care should be taken when choosing dark colours for south-facing doors or locations in constant sunlight. Dark finishes can lead to excessive heat uptake, potentially causing abnormal distortion or moisture extraction from the timber.

Storage Prior to Installation

  • If your door is not being installed immediately, it must be stored correctly to maintain its warranty:

  • Store the door in an upright position, protected from weather and site contamination.

  • Keep the polythene shrink-wrap protection intact until you are ready to apply coatings.

  • Do not store the door in direct sunlight or expose it to water contamination.

Quality Check & Visual Inspection

A strict quality control check is carried out before supply, but we ask customers to perform their own visual inspection in natural daylight prior to installation.

To inspect your door correctly, stand 3 metres (10 feet) away to view the overall appearance. The door is considered acceptable if none of the following are readily visible from this distance:

Marks or distortion from manufacturing.

  • Minor indentations, scuffs, or paint/stain blemishes.

  • Vertical and lateral deflection up to 1" (25mm) on doors up to 8ft, and up to 2½" (60mm) on doors up to 16ft.

Any anomalies must be reported to The Garage Door Centre within 48 hours of receipt.

Warranty Limitations

As a specialist supplier, The Garage Door Centre facilitates the manufacturer's warranty. However, liability cannot be accepted for naturally occurring phenomena such as:

  • Colour variations or fading.

  • Natural movement (lateral or longitudinal).

  • Splitting, shakes, or resin exudation.

  • Water ingress/exit damage if maintenance instructions have not been followed.
