Our Fitting Procedure & Some Updates

Here is an opportunity for you to watch just two of our team of Garage Door Centre Installation Engineers doing a door fitting for a local customer who was kind enough to permit us to film the whole process of replacing their garage door. This process has been time-lapsed so that you can watch how the process works from start to finish. It gives a wonderful insight into the work that goes into this beautiful result, to make the home secure, insulated, convenient and at the same time, provide “kerb appeal.” Gareth, our lead installer is working here with his assistant confidently and with a rhythm in their process, almost doing a well practiced dance, each knowing what the other is doing at any given moment.

In advance of this day this is how it works:

First, the customer calls, emails, or visits our showroom and begins to find out what door they would prefer. This decision can either be made purely on taste and wanting the final appearance to be neat, matching window frames, or an entrance door, or it can be guided by our professional consultants in the showroom here in Wellingborough. These consultants are used to advising on types of door dependent upon the need for insulation or security as well as the matter of good taste!

Second, we attend your site, where the new door will be installed, and carry out a full and thorough survey. Now at the time of writing this we are in the throes of having the Coronavirus hit the Nation, so we are maintaining “social distancing.” You can still come to our showroom, and we can still come to your site and survey, as well as fit or deliver, we simply do not get closer than 2m to you, for your safety as well as our own and do not pass items to one another, which is not required in any case.

Third, we prepare a full and detailed estimate for you, including images, that you can then read and approve remotely. We do not seek your signature on site, rather we email you an electronic quote based on the completed survey, you can then digitally accept this online, at this point we proceed with getting it manufactured to your needs.

We then contact you further to arrange the installation, and once again, we can reassure you during this current time that the installation engineers do not need to make physical contact with you as we are currently observing the social distancing guidance, so there is no need to be concerned about the current virus outbreak with regards to us and our staff.

Now, you can witness fitting day!

Here you can see Gareth and his assistant make the procedural double checks prior to starting to take out the old door, then they get to work on removing it, along with the frame, which we take away and dispose of, under our registration as “waste handlers” leaving the brickwork nice and neat ready for the new door and guides. You can see that they do a quick sweep around before setting out.

Next they set up the frame legs and head as well as the guides within which the rollers of the sectional door panels will travel when in use. They use their steps to align them and effectively create a goalpost shaped frame which they offer up and fix to the brickwork together. At this stage it takes them a while to make sure that all the fixings are in place and firm.
