Secrets of Roller Garage Doors that many manufacturers would not want you to know
When choosing a garage door for your home, the options can seem endless, but not all garage doors are created equal. Since electric insulated aluminium roller doors have exploded in popularity in the UK, the reality is that most cheap roller garage doors are a costly mistake waiting to happen.
Here is what many manufactures won’t tell you:
Cheap Electric Rolller Doors Are a False Economy
Simple message - Don’t buy cheap electric double skinned Aluminium Roller Garage Doors. You will regret it very soon and would be far better off with a good quality manual up and over door, or even a basic single skin curtain steel roller door. A roller garage door by its very nature is actually a little flawed in design, as the curtain rolls around itself during operation meaning the curtain slats rub against each other and can easily get damaged over a short period of time if they are of a low quality. This leaves the face of the door looking tired and scratched very quickly. In the UK market, a few manufacturers have spent years in research and designing methods to tackle this problem and some have succeeded, but many haven’t.

So what is so different with a SeceuroGlide?
The Seceuroglide ‘Original’ aluminium roller garage door was designed over 35 years ago and since then has had many changes and upgrades to produce a genuinely ‘manufactured’ roller door, rather than a generically ‘assembled’ roller door. The Seceuroglide has only top quality specification components in its construction and some critical component parts which are patented and unique.
The two key and unique features of a Seceuroglide roller door are:
1. The use of a special tough fabric webbing down each side of the curtain to hold the slats together. This serves three vital functions:
✔️ Massively reduces noise and rattling in windy conditions.
✔️ Reduce wear and tear between the slats, extending the door’s life.
✔️ Maintains smooth, aligned operation over the years
All other roller garage doors use nylon or metal endlocks that attach to the ends of each slat but rattle in the guides, and if either the slat or the endlocks are of poor quality, they will easily pull apart under the pressures created when the door is opened.
2. Security is one of the biggest concerns for any homeowner — and this is where Seceuroglide excels. The door comes with a patented locking device which effectively holds the closed door curtain down when closed. This means there is no chance of the curtain being lifted from outside for a forced break in.
These two are the most unique and the biggest single reasons to buy a Seceuroglide roller door if you are interested in security for your garage and home. There are many other unique features, but these are quite technical to explain simply. They can be named such as the control board for the motor drive, the hand transmitters and their design, the actual lath sections and their construction and so on….

Realiable Motors - With a Genuine 7 Year Warranty
The electric motor is perhaps one of the key points in an electric roller door as you rarely ever see the motor drive units as they are housed internally. The Seceuroglide roller door has a 7-year warranty on its motor drive, one of the longest and genuine warranties for any electric motor on a garage door.
Be aware: Bold claims of 10 years need further investigation, and most motors have 5 years with lower price doors of 1 or 2 years. Remember anyone can make a bold sales statement on a warranty but to actually honour it when necessary is another matter.
