Carteck Standard Ribbed – The Classic Choice
The Carteck Standard Ribbed sectional garage door blends a classic, narrow horizontal profile with modern insulated construction. Its clean, linear design creates subtle visual interest without dominating the frontage, making it a versatile choice for both contemporary and traditional homes. Part of the premium CarTeck insulated range by Teckentrup, this door combines German engineering, energy-saving insulation, and smooth vertical operation to deliver reliable performance for everyday family life.
This quality sectional door by Carteck is standard ribbed, and allows for various other design opportunities to create the ideal door for you and your garage.
Teckentrup CarTeck Brand and Manufacturing Quality
Built by Teckentrup, a leader in door technology, every Carteck-branded door benefits from proven German engineering and high-quality hardware. The insulated steel panels feature a durable multi-layer coating system designed to withstand demanding UK weather conditions while maintaining a pristine appearance.
CarTeck insulated sectional doors are specifically designed to transform cold, draughty garages into comfortable, usable extensions of the home. The advanced insulation and perimeter sealing stabilise internal temperatures, reducing energy waste and creating a pleasant environment for storage, hobbies, or parking. The range also features integrated CarTeck DRIVE operators, which sit discreetly above the door for a neat, uncluttered interior.
Carteck are a German company held in high regard by architects, fitters and general customers due to the high quality and innovation of their products. They provide a wide variety of surfaces, colours and glazing elements to help personalise your garage door and make it your own.
Design and Panel Construction
The Standard Ribbed model features evenly spaced, narrow horizontal ribs that create a clean, orderly aesthetic across the full width of the opening. This profile helps break up the visual mass of the door, making it particularly effective on double-width openings where a plain surface might look too heavy. The panels are constructed from corrosion-protected steel skins bonded to a rigid insulating core, ensuring strength and dimensional stability. Factory-engineered joints and concealed hinges ensure smooth, quiet running and a neat finish inside and out.
The door panels are 40mm double skinned insulated and give great strength to the panels which also gives superb insulation levels and security to this door design.
Construction and Insulation Performance
Double-skinned steel panels filled with high-density polyurethane foam significantly reduce heat loss. This thermal efficiency is crucial for attached garages, helping to maintain a stable internal environment and reduce energy bills. Premium perimeter seals and tight section joints keep out draughts, dust, and moisture, making the garage a more practical space for uses beyond simple car storage.
Design Options: Styles, Colours and Finishes
Carteck sectional doors are available in an extensive palette of standard colours—from subtle neutrals to bold statement shades—allowing you to coordinate perfectly with windows, fascias, and entrance doors. Wood-effect finishes are also available to soften the look for traditional properties. Whether you prefer a crisp, smooth modern finish or a practical grained texture that disguises everyday marks, the made-to-measure manufacturing ensures the rib layout remains balanced and proportionate across any size.
Vertical Operation and Space-Saving Benefits
The door opens vertically within side tracks before curving back to run horizontally along the ceiling. This means there is no outward swing at any point, making it ideal for short driveways or properties opening directly onto pavements. You can park vehicles right up to the door without obstructing movement. The vertical lift design also maximizes drive-through width and headroom—perfect for SUVs, MPVs, and vehicles with roof boxes.
Automatic Operation and Control Options
Designed for seamless automation, the Standard Ribbed door works effortlessly with the Teckentrup CarTeck DRIVE system. These integrated drive units sit neatly above the door, providing smooth, quiet opening at the touch of a button. Handheld transmitters allow you to open the garage from the warmth of your car, while internal wall buttons and optional external keypads offer convenient access for the whole family. Smart home integration is also available for modern connected homes.
Safety Features and Compliance
Carteck have produced a range of safety features to ensure durable functionality whilst paying keen attention to detail. With each sectional door, they supply:
✓ Perfect fitting sections – Individual sections are connected by wear resistant galvanized steel hinges which make the door leaf more secure
✓ Profiled spring channel – The contour of the spring channel reduces friction between the channel housing and plastic sliders and ensures that the door runs even more smoothly
✓ Frame base protection against corrosion – A special plastic part ensures that the vertical frame has no contact with the floor; the base area is thus continuously ventilated and protected against corrosion
✓ Safe, quiet running – The robust side hinges with integrated finger protection hold the patented eccentric roller holders
✓ Patented emergency release – Imperative for garages without a second entrance. The emergency release is operated from the outside via a master key system suitable profile cylinder or Kaba cylinder. It decouples the drive and enables the manual opening of the door (pre-equipped for GSW Carteck sectional doors as standard)
Security and Durability
Sectional construction offers superior security compared to traditional doors. The rigid panels are captive within robust tracks and cannot be easily levered outwards. When paired with a CarTeck DRIVE operator, the door mechanically locks in the closed position to resist forced lifting. The durable multi-layer coating and galvanised steel skin ensure the door resists corrosion and maintains its structural integrity for years.
Usage Scenarios
The Standard Ribbed model is the perfect all-rounder for family homes. It offers the ideal balance of style, security, and insulation for garages used for daily parking, storage, or as workshops.
Unique Headroom Advantage
The Carteck sectional door uses a different spring balance mechanism to most other sectional doors and this enables the headroom requirement to be only 120mm for most of the sizes available. However unlike other 'low headroom' systems the Carteck will give you a full drive through height when fully open using any one of their superb electric operators, and this is unique! This makes this sectional door ideal for larger garages with bedrooms above, flat roof arrangements with little headroom or just anywhere where you want to maximise the drive through height.
Surface Textures
Carteck doors are available as standard in the woodgrain surface however the Stucco, Micro-Profile and Smooth surfaces are available for the same price!

Sizes and Flexibility
The Carteck Standard Ribbed is available in all standard widths from 6'10" up to 18'0" wide with a new range of 'super sizes' offering widths up to a whopping 8000mm wide (26'3").
These super size sectional doors use commercial operating gear and do require more headroom but still offer excellent value for money for any super size garage.
Carteck also offer many more intermediate standard heights at the same price than others do to maximise the seal and insulation by getting a door the same height as the underside of your lintel avoiding an infill section which is normally not insulated.
Electric Operation
This sectional garage door is available in both manual and electric operation.
A range of handheld remote controls are available when the door is electronically operated to provide an easy solution to opening your garage door.
Glazing Options
Carteck offer a variety of glazing elements as they are distinctive design features which can enhance the appearance of any garage. The Standard Ribbed sectional door is available with the following glazing options:
✓ Type C Glazing
✓ Cross Mullion
✓ Rhombus Mullion
